FCC mode isn't necessary

The 16db spiral antenna kits are easy to install and work very well.  Its not necessarily how "loud" the transmitter is that determines the link quality between two point to point(or moving point). Rx sensitivity in the RF chip set, layout of specific parts and circuit trace shape all affect the receivers ability to "listen".  Antenna design is not a mystery these days, that's the easy part.  The 3Db antennas that DJI remotes have are good all purpose antennas and allow new pilots to focus on flying without necessarily understanding which direction to point the remote. I think the spiral or a flat panel antenna upgrade in CE mode would rival or surpass the performance of a stock remote in FCC mode.

FCC mode is absolutely necessary. CE mode is hot garbage, in rural Australia with minimal interference I get connection issues and drop outs around 2-3km's out. This is with a direct line between my controller and my mavic 2. My mavic pro has almost twice the range with the NLD mod.

Actually in Oz the Mavic Pro is already in FCC mode by default. You can test this pretty easily in the app itself. Not sure at all on the Mavic 2 though but I know my Spark is FCC mode already too. I have both Spark and MP for now with the MP capping out at 6~7kms and the Spark at ~3kms

When I went across to Indonesia recently with the stock DJI go4 app straight away it drops to CE mode (MP) and yes when I fire up NLD pulls it back into FCC once again.
