Stick error

Yesterday I was out flying and apart from being a little "jittery" in the hover (it was a bit windy) I encountered no major problems.
When finished I packed up and came home. Today with the news of the 1.9 update being released I set to and started a full system check. The bird was no problem but when I connected the remote, and turned it on, alarms started to go off.
On screen it said " STICK ERR" then progressed to "RE-CTR STCK".
The strange thing is that if I turn on the remote without connecting the USB it seems ok. As soon as I connect USB the alarm goes off. That would be ok under normal conditions but it means that I cannot connect the remote to NLD app.
Anyone? Ideas?

Remember that to connect the RC to NLD, you need to turn on and connect the bird first, let NLD get the serial number of the bird, then disconnect the bird, connect the RC, THEN turn on the RC.  Leave it off first when connecting to the computer.
