Mavic Pro FCC mode / Signal boost works or?

I have just recently bought the NLD subscription for my Mavic Pro and started tinkering with it.

When trying to set the FCC mode I am seeing a strange behaviour. As for me this is a new field to explore, I am not implying it does not work but still feel I need to ask you guys this.

In the screenshot below you can see that the bird is running on 01.04.0300 fw (I downgraded from the stock 01.04.0500 using NLD client), that the BirdMap mentions as the highest fw version with patchable NFZ removal and both speed and signal boosts. The app even confirms the firmware is compatible.



When I, however, click the Enable FCC Mode, NLD fires a sequence of actions and after 3-5 secs goes back to ready state. If I then go to the FCC / Signal Boost section of the NLD client, having just supposedly enabled the FCC mode, there's no hint of the FCC mode being active - on the contrary the button still says Enable FCC Mode. But that might be a feature, not a bug...

Then I fire up my RC, have it connect with the bird and after that hook it up to my iPad running DJI GO 4 version 4.1.3. In Settings ->  Image transmission settings I see this:


The 1km horizontal line sits right below -90 dBm, which, according to other sources on the internet (eg. here), suggests CE mode. In FCC it should sit somewhere  between -80 am -90 dBm. Can someone more seasoned confirm or contradict the information. Or another possibility - what am I doing wrong?

if you look at the signal graph, you can see than there is two horizontal lines, one for the "~1km" and one for the "~4km".

If you are in CE mode, the "~1km" line is just under 90 dbm/mhz, so between 90 and 100dbm/mhz and the "~4km" line is between 100 and 110 dbm/mhz.

In FCC mode, the "~1km" line is between 80 and 90 dbm/mhz and the "~4km" line is juste upper 100 dbm/mhz, so between 90 and 100dbm/mhz.

Found this on dji site so u seems to be in Fcc mode :D
getting my mavic pro tommorow and i hope its a big upgrade from the spark :p

No, he is in CE mode as your quotes state, and as i also know from my own mod, FCC 1km line is between 80 and 90.  His is between 90 and 100 as shown.

Today, after doing a bit of flying with the drone to see whether there's any change in it's behaviour I came back home and found out my post got some replies. After reading yours I went back to the NLD client and tried enabling the FCC mode again. This time, after clicking the Enable FCC mode button, it wasn't finished within the 3-5 secs like before. Instead it went visibly through more stages ending with a red text along the lines of "Patching failed, reboot the drone and try again". Not what I got yesterday.
Tried again after rebooting the drone - same outcome.

Having read somewhere in the NLD web guides that the firmware flash is preferably to be done twice in a row I did another reflash of the fw 01.04.0300. Then I tried enabling FCC again. This time it behaved like in my original post and I made a short video that can hopefully help get some idea about what's going on. To make it a bit more descriptive I put up USBLogView utility up next to the NLD client windows so that it's possible to see USB events during the operation.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Tried a different USB port? Direct into PC? New lead? Different PC even?

Could be a number of issues but someone with flashing Mavic Pro may chime in and say different of course.

Just installed it on my mavic that i got today and also installed the app and this is what i got on the pic
Are u using the nld app for phone aswell?

I have exactly the same problem, with the 0500 firmware. Using stock app on the iphone, still it is said to work even without patching the app. Any solutions yet ?
