Robert, I sent NLD support an email and they are going to take care of a new serial if needed. As mentioned above, email them and they will take care of you.

Received my Brand New replacement M2 from DJI. Looks like they're replacing them with new units instead of repairing them. I was a bit concerned after they said they needed more information and asked for my flight logs but it all worked out.

It seems that as long as You don't downgrade lower than fw 01.00.0100 you should be fine.
I personally did downgrade mine from .0300 to .0200 in assistant and then .0200 to .0100 in NLD. But since there are many problems with that firmware and I really wanted FCC mode, I have since gone back to .0400 with no preoblems.
